My indispensable FireFox Addons
I’ve been having a couple friends asking me what I’ve been using for firefox a lot lately, so here are to the tools that help me get more done.
TwitterFox- Notifies you of your friends updates, also allows you to update directly from Firefox.
Foxmarks- Foxmarks Sync’s all of my bookmarks on all installations of firefox on all of my computers.
Flagfox- Tells me where the current website I’m viewing, where there web server is located; also including the ip address of the server(s).
Firebug- A great tool for both web designers and web developers, helping you to inspect and edit html and css files, debug javascript, and monitor network and file usage; including loading times!
FirePHP- A great firefox extension to debug ajax, using a php call function.
Google Gears- Google Gears allows you to let normal web applications operate offline in a desktop environment. Its a great application for WordPress installations, Google Docs, and Myspace (If you still use it).
Prism- Prism is a great firefox addon for making websites launch as a normal application on your desktop. This addon will work with any website, twitter, facebook, google. Check it out for yourself!
Know any other good addons please post a comment and let me know!
Google Now Supports RSS Updates?!?!
I was just browsing around for some opinions on decent domain name auctions around, Ah! there it is… I see it! Below the title of the search result I just noticed, ‘2 posts – 2 authors – Last Post: Mar 26, 2007′. Since when did Google start updating when forum posts have been updated, thats a pretty awesome feature!

Prisim Review, Possibly the best app?
I was sitting in World Work Communications 12, in school a couple days ago reading the latest issue of PC Magazine. I sat there reading the article ‘The Best Free Software‘, most of the programs, applications, and services I had already heard of but a couple I figured I would give a try.
First off I started trying an application called Prisim, created by Mozilla Labs. Prism allows you to use some of your frequently used sites and add them as a(n) ‘application’ on your desktop; for example I use the Dreamhost Panel as an application now, so I don’t have to use Firefox, which in the long run doesn’t use as much of my ram and is so much more convenient.
This is just my review for now, I might take the time to write up some more when I get a chance, but until then we will see.
Tips on moving your website
Have you ever moved your website, and you keep thinking you might be loosing users or if your even doing this properly. There are quite a few ways that you can make this process a lot easier and in the end, possibly a lot less errors.
- Test your website on a private subdomain, before moving all of your files, etc. to another domain.
- Setup a 301-Redirect (or another 3xx code), this will provide redirection and will be recognized by search engines.
- Some domain registar’s will allow you to set up a 301-Redirect via a domain control panel (ex. GoDaddy)
This is about it for now, I think I’m going to start writing ‘how-to’ posts again, better ones and longer. If anyone would have any questions please feel free to post a comment and I will try and respond asap.
